Epping Forest is pretty close to where I live and i’ve been meaning to check it since I moved here. With the help of two locals we found some neat little trails cut into the woods, not long by any means but short and fun when the evenings are dry and sunny…

So I decided to head back up north for the weekend, for a bit of biking. climbing and a bbq (mainly biking though). Since it is quite a long and dull drive to the hilly homeland I decided to stop off on the way at Lee Mill Quarry since it seems to be getting quite a lot of good press recently…

Today was another excursion to Surrey hills to explore and find some hidden trails over the hill from the main areas of Pitch, Leith and Holmbury hill. On the way to said area we came across a small play area that some locals had obviously built, some sketchy jumps doubles and drops had been built, so we stopped for ten minutes to have a little crack at a few of them, before following the instructions to the hidden trails…

Today’s visit to Surrey hills consisted mainly of riding Pitch hill (previously i’d been to Leith hill and Holmbury hill).  Couple of nice rough sections with little techy sections and we also found a nice little north shore drop that I had a quick play on as I don’t think this sort of stuff stays here for too long…

This was the first place I visited when I first moved down here, heard good things, wasn’t too far from work (or so I thought), so surely it was worth checking out. First impressions were it was loose dirt and quite sandy in places, nothing at all like the good ol’ hardpack stone surfaces up north, and the jumps were damned big…
