The Prophet is here

Recently I purchased an ebay bargain of a 2008 Cannondale Prophet frame, complete with rp2 shock. It was in pretty good condition and even came with all the bits I needed to get it up and running, although I have purchased a new hope headset and new mech hanger as I bent the old one. It’s been built up with all my old bits from the hardtail frame, most of which fitted just fine, though it could do with a longer rear brake cable to tidy it up a bit (so that is being done shortly).

I’ve been out a few times on it now, Chicksands (still best on hardtail), Swinley Forest and Surrey Hills have all been sampled and so far it feels pretty good. The medium size frame (which I have) feels pretty good overall, not too long but neither too short which I have found quite a few sussers to be. It’s been set up in the ‘fr’ position which gives it the slacker head angle of 67.5 which feels pretty good on the trail both up and down. The rp2 does an ok job of smoothing out the general trail chatter when you’re just riding the normal stuff and certainly helps smooth out the landings on those bigger jumps and drops.

I’ve enjoyed all the riding i’ve been able to do on it so far and have only begun testing it capabilities as well my own in riding the thing.  I’m sure there’ll be plenty more days out for it to come and in only a few weeks it will get a good work out in the lakes on some real trails.
